Posting: March 30, 2026 – Front Desk Receptionist

Full-time
Morning shift (M-F) beginning at 5:45 am, rotating Saturdays (8:45am-1:00pm), some afternoon/closing shifts
Pay Rate: Starting at $15/hr

DESCRIPTION

The Front Desk Receptionist is the first point of contact for guests and ensures they have a positive experience.  This role requires a friendly, professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks efficiently.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and written
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Strong computer and typing skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word
  • CPR/AED/First-Aid certified (District will provide training)

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Greeting and welcoming visitors to the park district, and answering any questions they may have regarding park district programs, facilities and activities.
  • Providing information to visitors about park district policies and procedures, including rules and regulations, fees and charges, and program registration.
  • Register customers for programs, trips, and fitness center memberships.
  • Work with customers to book facility rentals and manage account balances.
  • Process payments accurately via cash, checks, credit cards.
  • Balance daily work, handle cash according to procedures.
  • Answer email, walk-in and phone inquiries for customers, coaches, instructors, staff and public.
  • Handling customer inquiries, complaints, and issues in a professional and courteous manner, and escalating more complex issues to higher-level staff members as necessary.
  • Assisting with general administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and document preparation, as needed.
  • Ensure the front desk area and lobby are tidy and presentable.
  • Assist other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Posting: March 30, 2026 – Seasonal Parks & Grounds Maintenance

Full-time Seasonal position beginning in June
M-F 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Pay rate: $15/hr

DESCRIPTION

The seasonal maintenance laborer will be responsible for assisting with the overall maintenance and daily operation of District parks and facilities on a seasonal (less than 26 consecutive weeks) basis including facility structures, grounds, paths, roadways, maintaining all tools, vehicles, equipment and supplies to maintain grounds, facility structures and site amenities.  

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license
  • Advancement towards or completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED)
  • Some experience or training in landscaping, lawn maintenance or related
 
SKILLS NEEDED
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude, ability to multi-task and good time management skills 
  • Must be able to work independently and take initiative

 

RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assist in the implementation of grounds mowing and trimming along with a routine turf preventative maintenance program.
  • Assist in the implementation of roadways & trails preventative maintenance program.
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of capital improvements and construction projects including but not limited to the installation, repair, and maintenance of site amenities and others.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of landscaping plans, including but not limited to the planting, pruning, watering and weeding of trees, shrubs, flowers or other plant material.
  • Complete assigned projects and tasks.
  • Assist with implementation of scheduled park activities, program events and picnic rentals including set-up and takedown of tents and tables.
  • Cooperate with and provide assistance to all District staff and perform dependent responsibilities as a team member; work effectively in crossover tasks or group projects.
  • Assist with caring for farm animals as instructed by the Director.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to be seated or stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor climatic and temperature conditions and variations (heat, cold, sun, wind, precipitation, and humidity).
